Marriott Bonvoy Promotions

Current promotions are targeted and generally include:

  • Double points
  • 2,000–5,000 bonus points every two stays
  • Extra Elite Night Credits for certain members

Not every member receives the same offer.

Status Challenge

This is an unpublished promotion and is excellent. It is the Elite Status Challenge you will need to provide your Marriott Bonvoy membership number. The challenge will help you to earn Platinum status in only 16 nights (it normally takes 50 nights). Call Marriott Bonvoy at (800) 535-4028 and ask for a Marriott Bonvoy representative (if you are not immediately directed to one). Tell them you want to participate in the “Marriott Elite Status Challenge”. You want to sign up for the challenge by room nights, not number of stays.

Typical requirements to earn upgraded status:

  • Gold Elite: stay 8 qualifying nights within approximately 3 months
  • Platinum Elite: stay 16 qualifying nights within approximately 3 months

Status Matching

Marriott generally does not generally match other chain hotel status.

Hilton Honors Promotions

Typical offers include:

  • Hilton Honors will award 2,000 bonus points for all stays of up to 3 nights and 4,000 bonus points for stays of four nights or more between June 1st and August 15th, 2026 – you must register for this promotion
  • Up to 15K bonus points with targeted Hilton promo – direct link to the promo – this is a targeting promotion and you need to have been invited and, as always, if invited you must register
  • Members should activate offers before staying.

Status Matching

Hilton still has one of the strongest status match offers.

If you have elite status with Marriott, Hyatt, IHG, or another qualifying chain:

  • Receive 90 days of Hilton Gold or Diamond.
  • Stay 6 nights to keep Gold.
  • Stay 12 nights to keep Diamond.

Status obtained now should remain in effect until March 31 of 2028.

IHG Promotions

Common offers include:

  • 2,000 bonus points every two nights
  • 8,000–10,000 point bonuses after several stays
  • Targeted accelerated earning promotions

Many are personalized.

Status Matching

IHG occasionally offers targeted matches but does not currently maintain a permanent public status match like Hilton.

Sonesta Promotions

  • Double or triple points
  • Seasonal stay bonuse
  • Brand specific offers

Unlike Hilton or Marriott:

  • No public status challenge
  • No public status match
  • Elite status is earned primarily through stays

Their promotions tend to be simpler but can still provide good value for long-term government travelers.
