Which Hotel Loyalty Program is Best?

There isn’t a single hotel loyalty program that’s the best choice for everyone. The right program depends on where you travel, how often you travel, and the hotels available at your destination.

For most government travelers—and especially Navy students attending extended training schools—we generally recommend focusing on either Hilton Honors or Marriott Bonvoy. Both programs offer an excellent mix of extended-stay hotels with kitchenettes and traditional full-service and select-service hotels, giving travelers more options in destinations around the world. Concentrating your stays with one program also makes it much easier to earn Elite status, free nights, and valuable benefits such as complimentary breakfast, room upgrades, and late checkout.

That said, even Hilton and Marriott don’t have the best hotel in every destination. In some locations, an IHG One Rewards or Wyndham Rewards property may provide a better location, better value, or a more comfortable stay.
